What makes Caradon Youth Music unique?
Project Based Learning
Alongside learning how to play their instrument, every CY musician will have the opportunity to explore a project of their choosing. Project topics include 'music from around the world', 'dead famous composers' and 'top bands/artists'.
The PBL approach allows our students to learn about an area of music that really interests and inspires them and gives them a chance to put what they've learned on their instrument into practise. Some examples of project-based activities are:
  • record a song or piece of electronic music that sounds like it comes from the country you've chosen
  • compose a piece in the style of your chosen composer to be performed by a live band
  •  learn to play 3 pieces by your chosen artist or band
Saturday Band Sessions
On top of weekly sessions, all our CY musicians can experience playing in a band on a Saturday afternoon.
Every student will learn a collection of songs with their teacher, regardless of what instrument they play and the Saturday band sessions will give them the opportunity to play those songs with other musicians. These sessions will be led by our teachers and other professional musicians.
They can attend as many sessions throughout the term as they would like and will have a chance to perform to friends and family as well as in our regular concerts and events throughout the year.
